Hey there!

Thanks for stopping by my blog- a place where I share a bit of my photography, a bit of my life, and a lot of me! I am in love with the life that God has provided me. I live with my wonderful husband in central Oklahoma, in the town of Edmond. I am a wife, sister, daughter, and friend. I enjoy my work as a nurse and photographer. I adore sweets, nature, and my pesky (but cute) boxer, Honey. I feel that I am blessed with a passion for photography, and pray that I am able to bless others through it.

Thank you for being here and sharing the experience with me!

kids camp

its off to tipton for the annual church picnic today! yay
i will def. have my camera in tow and get some pictures to show how a town of 300 can pull together and really have some fun. but before i go, i spent yesterday morning at a kids camp sponsered by the bethel foundation, a nonprofit organization for single moms and thier kids. the camp was centered around nutrition, but had a lot of other activities like games, crafts, a photo session, and talks from the fire department, police department, and the zoo!
photo life group volunteered to take pictures of the event and put and album together for the kids. heres a few of the shots that i got.

lovin' sunday

don't you just love sundays?
my day started early with an engagement shoot of danna and jim, who will be getting married on sept. 20th (hence the 20 in the photo). i was very excited they were willing to get down to bricktown (lookin' very good, might i add) at a bright and early 7:30! the light was beautiful, the streets were empty, and we were even able to sneak on one of the canal boats!
full post later this week.
after the session, it was off to life church to watch the last At the Movies series. it was one of those sermons where the rest of the congregation melts away, and you suddenly feel the pastor is speaking directly to you, and only you. then as the service is ending and i'm contiplating what i need to do to take action, there in my hands lays the answer on our church bulletin.
God is good.
next it was home for photo editing, hanging with the hubby, napping, eating, searching for our future puppy, dreaming of our future house, and more photo editing. perfect!
i hope your sunday was just as enjoyable :c)

all about the ring!

check out this bad boy.
you've seen the engagement pics of my friend anndrea and mark (who will be married in less than a month!). well her bachelorette party is in a couple weeks, and i was assigned to the invite task. after looking at the ridiculous prices online, i turned on creative mood. but nothing from my scrap booking box was inspiring me. then i remembered this picture from their engagement session (which i was at first upset about because i was trying to show off her cute shoes with her ring, but i shot with such a shallow depth of field.. i blurred them). buuut, how perfect is the blur to type over! i know it sounds like i'm tuttin' my own horn, well i guess i am..but hey, what else is a blog good for. now it's off to grab some envelopes and get these in the mail!

also: we're making offers on houses today, so say a prayer!

searching..

right now ray and i are doing a lot of searching. searching for jobs, houses, and the way to live most completely as followers of Christ.
on top of all this, 2 days ago i felt like searching for something new to photograph, not people or projects or weddings. so i called up my photo friend belinda, and lucky for me, she took me to an amazing 'plant farm' (i will find out the true name by the next post!!), but it was breathtaking! belinda said this was her 3rd time out there this week, and i know why. from koi ponds to exotic plants to a classic barn and cow, i felt like i just reached the treasure at the end of the rainbow!
i would love to go back and take more pictures (and by a butt load of plants for my future home...wishing**) but for now, here's just one image that i hope captures the magicalness of the whole place!

so after seeing what kind of treasure can come from a simple search, i feel faithful that with God leading our lives' searches, we will end up in a place of even greater beauty (even if its hidden down a old forgotten, slightly dusty path :c)

oh the places you'll go

Oh, the Places You'll Go!
Congratulations!
Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy
(or gal) who'll decide where to go.

nichole
Dr. Suess knows how to say it this best! there are several big events happening in my friends' lives that i just want to take some time and celebrate~ first of all, one of my very close friends is now going to be very far for the next 3 months, but she will be carrying out a dream she's had for the last couple years. nichole, a fellow nursing friend of mine, squeezed into her packed down honda fit to head northeast, all the way to seattle. with her brother at her side, nichole is moving to seattle for a travel nursing position until october. we have both talked about traveling since we graduated, and i am just so proud that she's doing it! and the above quote couldn't be more suiting for nichole, with brains in her head and feet in her shoes... i know you'll do fabulous up there nichole, but we miss you already!!

Oh, the places you'll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. there are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all. Fame! You'll be famous as famous can be,with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.

brett
brett is one of my elementary school buddies who i've been able to remain friends with since (i still remember every girl had a crush on his dirty blond bowl cut he was rockin' in the '90's) but from dirty blond to punked out black hair, i'm am so proud of how far brett has come! first of all, brett picked up photography a little over a year ago and has some amazing work (esp. in photoshop!). but besides being in an inspiration to me photography wise, last week brett's band, capital lights, released their first album, this is an outrage! they are a christian pop/rock/punk band that was on tour nation wide with hawk neslon for most of this year! they sound great, and i'm proad of them for keeping their christian morals and having the vision to move beyond the high school band phase. check out the cd on itunes for only $7.99! next step, capital lights, your as famous as famous can be.

So...be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Brayor Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea, you're off to Great Places!Today is your day!Your mountain is waiting.So...get on your way!
---Dr. Seuss

trista
trista was more than just a friend in college, she was a roommate and sharer of clothes, trips, experiences, and the occasional boy~ but now trista, along with her loving hubby chris, will be moving on to the next stage of their life.. parenthood! these two couldn't be more excited about their unplanned pregnancy (as told by their myspace old names "i'm going to be a mommy/daddy!!!!!!!!!!). can't wait till this little guy/gal arrives, but only after some amazing prego pics (when trista finally decides to look pregnant). and to help the parents-to-be, i've even provided some wonderful names to choose from.. like i said, dr. suess knows how to say it best!

work ahead

work ahead. is that the definition of engagement?
although i'm still in the honeymoon phase with my wonderful hubby, i feel confident that there will be work ahead. but the beautiful part of this is that you'll be putting in work with and for the one that you love. and i am so happy that one of my best friends, anndrea, found the one that she's willing to love, play with, care for, and work with. here's their engagement session from downtown okc, and i can't wait for their next month (which i also get to shoot)!

he knows how to make her laugh

i love light

these two are both big nature lovers, so this scene in the middle of the city was great!can we say, casual portrait?

this bridge is beloved my many okc photogs!
wont she be a stunning bride!!
sweet love in the city
and this is a fun little scene (sorry that it really is so little)

my day as uncle bob

yes, i have to admit it, i have now been an uncle bob. what's an uncle bob you ask? uncle bob is a person who's attending a wedding with a dslr at their side, a person who makes the photographer have to say, 'look this way please', a person who a photographer puts up with, but is annoyed with. yes, as a photographer, i became a photographers nuisance. but i love some of the shots a got. and although i was an uncle bob, i do regret not having my camera at the ceremony for some 'from the balcony pics', so maybe my lesson is to be understanding of the uncle bobs that will be shooting at the weddings i'm working :c)
this is my friend john, one of my oldest friends in oklahoma (we met in the 4th grade) and i was excited to get to celebrate this celebration with him and his new wife janna.

they did lots of fun twirling
i love the feel of this shot
a little detail

+1

ray turned another year older last saturday, so to celebrate we headed to the greens for a game of putt-putt in the smoldering sun.. but we had the perfect way to cool off, a pool party!

here's matt's hole in one on the 1st hole!

and birthday boy showing us how it's done (i promise, the holes get more challenging..)
couple time!
chase (the winner) and katie
my sister, kacey, and matt

no pics from the pool party cause i was busy hittin' home runs in our pool baseball game (and i can say that because we don't have pics to prove otherwise ;c)

happy birthday again, ray!

and speaking of birthdays, today is eric's birthday, our child from ghana that ray and i sponsor! he shares his birthday with the date that ray and i first started dating, so today is also our 3 year anniversary of being together.. wow what a day!
eric is 8 years old today, and i would show a pic, but i can't get our scanner to work.. so you'll just have to take my word that he is adorable both inside and out.

summer to me

weeee!! after a week of enjoying some fun summertime activities, i thought i'd reflect some on what i think makes summer super! of course, spending time out in God's beautiful creation last week was a great way to enjoy these summer months (esp. in the mountains, were its a bit cooler :c). then on thursday i was volunteering at mercy ministries (a local food and clothing bank) where i was blessed with an overflowing crate of peaches. and these peaches were not just any peaches, but perfectly ripened, california sun sweetened, couldn't get any better, peaches. and when the juice started running down the side of my mouth as i took my first bite while stepping into the hot sun, i literally stopped right where i was and though 'wow, now my summer has officially begun!' it was that amazing! since then i have been eating at least 2 peaches a day, and it's been nothing short of delicious. but 2 peaches a day didn't make a dent in my crate, so what else is there to do but make a cobbler?! yes, i made my very first cobbler to take to a 4th of july party, a classic summer duo (where it was paired with some homemade icecream, yumm). with a weekend full of fireworks, sleeping in, put-put, and a swimming party, how could it feel any more like summer? you guessed it.. the lake! which i will be enjoying with my good friends this sunday! and that's what summer is to me!
ps. in this tribute to summer, i would also like to include summer dawn, who is an amazing friend that i will treasure forever! besides always being there for me, your probably the most faithful reader of this blog (even though commenting is difficult for ya) love you friend!!
pss. the pool and put-put were to celebrate rays 24th birthday on july 5! happy birthday sugar!
pss. if you didnt figure it out yet, the pic is of me as a kid, just enjoying a wonderful summer day.

the nature of new mexico

here's my attempt at landscape pics.. of course i don't think anyone can capture the true beauty of being in a place such as that. but hopefully this will convey what i had to suffer through all weekend~
