the internet

for some reason, on the day i have 3-4 different things i want to blog, i keep getting a 'bad request' signal when i try to upload pictures. but the good news is, my husband is waiting for me to settle in for the night, since he actually has to wake up early in the morning. so i guess this is the internet's way of making sure i stay in good terms with ray. thanks internet!

and i blogged just to let you know.. there will be pics to come (hopefully)!

a garden party

what better way is there to celebrate your 8th birthday party than with a garden party? that was the theme of caitlin's birthday this year, and since her mom was going to be busy with games and kid patrol, she asked me to come take pictures of the event. i work with caitlin's mom at deaconess, and am excited that she is now getting into photography as well!

for my 'group' picture, they broke out in song and dance...

and this was an accident that was way over exposed, but i liked the artsy turnout (too bad the bday girl was too busy playing with a dead skunk to be in the pic...kids..)

the shadows and bright light of 2:00 and the constant motion of kids made this shoot a little more difficult.. but i had a fun time with all the kids!

mischievous honey

mischievous honey.

we always know when honey's gotten into something. especially when that something is the oklahoma red dirt. thanks to honey's black nose and white paws, any digging she does will inevitably leave some evidence. the above picture is how honey looked when she came in today.

but later at the park, her mischievousness turned out to be a blessing! i was walking the park behind our house that i've been to many of times, but this time i went off the trail in search of some fun new picture locations. we had made our way back to the path, when honey started sniffing at a hidden off-the-road pathway. so i decided to follow, and what we found at the bottom was this beautiful crystal clear stream. seriously. i have never seen water so clear in okalahoma (remember the red dirt from above?). so we hiked along this hidden stream, and i was happy. (this is the park that i trained for the 10k on, so i've been around it plenty of times, but never knew this little wonderland existed!) and i am still happy, becuase i am alive, i am loved, and i am a child of God. 2 days ago i couldn't stop my self from crying.. now i can't contain myself from smiling :c)

speaking of smiling, here's 2 pics that should put a smile on your face. while trying to get a pic of honey's red dirt nose, i was able to capture some really funny faces!

quick update on things i've been meaning to blog:
1. my 2nd anticipated sunday as come and gone, which means i've been chowing down on some chocolate, and enjoying beautiful pictures on everyone's blogs! ps. happy easter and thank you jesus!
2. my cousin had surgery on monday (open-heart, he's 2 months old). but with many prayers and a skilled medical team, he is recovering well and may get to go home this weekend!
3. i was nurse of the day at the capitol yesterday!

nurse exemplars

the first week of may is nurses week.

in celebration of nurses week, deaconess recognizes their nurse exemplars, and from that group, nominate a nurse of the year. i, being the photographer-nurse that i am, was nominated to take pictures of these standout nurses. this is my first time to set up a studio-like portrait session on my own. thanks to the fabulous mr. m. of limerick studio for lending me all the gear. here's what i got!

i ran the 10K in 57.50 min., which met my goal of under 1 hour. kacey kicked booty running it in 53.33 min! and i'm super proud of trista for being a mommy, not training as much, and finishing the 10K just because it's what we were running! it was cold and windy, but the run was the best part of the day (trying to find my sister and husband after the race, without a cell phone, was not as fun). here's the pic of us after the race, in the warm car, when we finally got around a camera. hopefully now that i've completed this, it won't be the end of my running..

p.s. i just caught a peak that jessica claire is now engaged (it's hard to miss the blogger news at the bottom of the page)... now i'm super excited for my 2nd, sunday to come!

the 1st sunday.

so the first sunday of the 2 i've been counting down to is here.

what is so special about this sunday, you ask? well besides it being palm sunday, this sunday is the day i run my first 10k. in the previous weeks i've been planning on it being this glorious day in which i finish the race, take pictures, hang out, and just enjoy the day. buuut, if you live anywhere close to okc today, you may realize that it feels like a frigid 32 degrees out, with a ton of wind. yay! so, i'm getting ready to dredge to the race, fight the wind, then scamper into the car and back home to sit in front of the fire...

but for my picture section of the post, i will share with you our photos from yesterday, a beautiful day that i enjoyed at the park with my hubby and puppy. (gotta love oklahoma's ever changing weather...)

i think i look pretty terrible here, but these are the only pics i get of myself anymore..
